!"God,
who at sundry
times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the
prophets, Hath in
these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir
of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. Wherefore (as the Holy
Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
Harden not your
hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the
wilderness. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than
any
twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and
spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart.
Searching what, or
what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify,
when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory
that should follow.Unto
whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did
minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have
preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven;
which things the angels desire to look into. For the prophecy came not
in old time by the will of man: but holy men
of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."
