ENCOURAGEMENT FROM THE COUNSELOR FOR SINGLE MOTHERS : I Refuse To Be Broken As A Single Parent!
I have been surviving successfully as a single parent for fourteen year. The court took away child support payments from my daughter. My
daughter’s father died
and
she could not receive any
social security benefits.
I was forced to raise my daughter alone, but I
refuse to let this trial break me. God gave me the ability to take
care of my daughter. God cares about single parents and He sees your struggles
and frustrations. You may feel that no one understand your struggles, but you
are not alone. God promises us that He will never leave you nor forsake you.
I challenge you to give God the burden of raising your child alone. In Matthew
11:28 he said "
Come to me,
all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
God is your financial provider. In Philippians 4:19 it states "God shall supply
all your needs according to His riches and glory in Christ Jesus.” Abraham send
his handmaid Hagar and his son Ishmael away. Hagar’s financial system had shut
down on her. Hagar feared that Ishmael was going to died. God met her in her
troubles and He provided for Hagar and her son. He promised Hagar that he was
going to bless Ishmael. God will take care of your child. "When my father and
my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up" (Psalm 27:10).
Hagar could allow this to trial break her but she cried out to God. You cannot
let the financial pressure of raising your child break you. Proverbs 3:5 says
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own
understanding.”
God does not want single parents to stop pursuing their career. God allowed me
to graduate from college with an advanced degree and write a book. If God can
do it for me, He can do it for you! "For there is no respect of persons
with God" (Romans 2:11).
You can be victorious as a single parent. According to Philippians 4:13, "I can
do all things through Christ which strengthen me.” I challenge you to refuse to
be broken by the trials of being a single parent.
