Based on GSoM Course 129: Critical Adversaries Preamble In
John chapter 17: 6-18, Jesus made it clear that there are two types
of people in the world: those who are His and those who reject His
redemptive assignment. He prayed to the Father to preserve His own from
the evil which rules the world: God has ordained that His children will live fulfilled lives on earth with potentials to affect their communities. Jeremiah 29:11 King James Version (KJV) 11For
I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts
of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. John 10:10 King James Version (KJV) 10The
thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am
come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly. As John
10:10 above shows, , Jesus came to take away all constraints that are
contrary to the well being of saints. Back of all the constraints is
the great enemy of man: Satan who in himself and through other agencies
and circumstances engineers situations that seek to steal, kill and
destroy what God ordained for His saints! At
the Cross of Calvary, Jesus completed the work of redemption and
triumphantly declared, as recorded in John 19:30: "It is finished”.
The work of redemption is complete and nothing can be added or
subtracted to it! All who maintain their salvation in Christ Jesus till
their last breath are assured of their state of bliss with God in the
future phase of the Kingdom and in eternity. However,
the blessings procured at Calvary Cross for living the abundant life
in this present phase of the Kingdom can be enjoyed or missed! A
saint who walks in darkness of ignorance concerning who he or she is
in Christ will suffer needlessly. A saint who is too busy to study the
Word, meditate on it and apply it in everyday life will live an empty
life filled with the spirit of struggle and lack. The saint who does
not take time to understand the nature of opposition and constraints to
well being on this side of eternity will live an empty, defeated
life. Hosea 4:6 King James Version (KJV) 6My
people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected
knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to
me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget
thy children. On the
other hand, the saint who will diligently study the Word, meditate on
it and yield the mind for renewal by the Word; who will apply the Word
to real life situations with full understanding of all the arsenal
provided in the Word for victory in the battles of life will enter
eat the good of the earth! Isaiah 1:19 King James Version (KJV) 19If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: Joshua 1:8 King James Version (KJV) 8This
book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt
meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do
according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy
way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Psalm 1:1-3 King James Version (KJV) 1Blessed
is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor
standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the
scornful. 2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3And
he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth
forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and
whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 Critical Adversaries The
four critical adversaries which work independently and
cooperatively to nullify the testimony of Jesus Christ in the life of
the redeemed and make life hard are: - The Self Life
- the World
- the Devil and
- Denominationalism.
Each of these adversaries will be studied in detail to enable participants gain a real life understanding which will enhance spiritual insight/discernment, enable us to pray more proactively and wage a good warfare. Participants will learn the three dimensions of man: spirit, soul and body and see how the motions of each affect spirituality. The impact of self on true spirituality will be outlined so that the principle of Matthew 16:24 is properly understood. Course Synopsis THE SELF LIFE What then is the self life? How can it be defeated? What are the provisions for a self-free life of true liberty? THE WORLD What is the World? How is it organized? How has the world become churchier while the church is moving in the opposite direction, more worldly? How does this line up with the fact that the last of the churches Jesus addressed in Revelation 3 is the worldly church at Laodicea? THE DEVIL Who is the devil? What are his main assignments? How does he operate? THE DENOMINATIONAL SPIRIT What is it? Why is it an enemy of the true gospel In what ways does it operate contrary to Christ’s express instructions on what His Church is? Usefulness and limits of denominations The Kingdom gospel and the post-denominational era Spiritual
warfare: an explanation. A Christian will succeed or fail; enjoy the
glorious liberty of son ship or struggle with various constraints to
the degree of understanding of the nature of factors which seek to
constrain or even destroy the blessings which are ours by inheritance.
Beyond understanding of those factors, the saint needs to boldly stand
upon the Word of God and enforce the ordinance of Calvary in what is
called spiritual warfare. Spiritual warfare is not an activity
exclusively reserved for a few super stars in the Kingdom. It is not an
activity seeped in secret codes! It is the lifestyle of spiritual
alertness and militancy to stand upon the written and revealed Word and
insisting that Satan and all powers of darkness give way for the
purpose of the King to be fulfilled in all circumstances. In prayer, we
call upon God to do the things we deem needful for our well being. In
spiritual warfare, we decree the stated word and will of God and see
its enforcement as sons of God and co-heirs with Jesus Christ. America,
